Two North Port seniors were charged with lewd and lascivious behavior after a Sarasota County Sheriff's deputy caught them together in the Jelks Preserve off River Road.
A deputy reportedly discovered Warren Glendon MacConnell, 83, of the 3600 block of North Cranberry Boulevard, and George Paul Farraher, 67, of the 2900 block of South Salford Boulevard, engaging in sexual activity at the Sarasota County park shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Farraher, who was employed part time as a city of North Port school crossing guard at Cranberry Elementary School, called in Friday to quit his job, according to North Port Police Chief Terry Lewis.
"We are starting the paperwork for his termination," Lewis said.
Both men were taken to the Sarasota County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond each.
